As a change in trends, CEOs have started spending time with their employees to understand their thoughts on innovations within the company. One of the employees working at a corporate had the CEO come up to his table and ask him about his schedule and daily deliverables. This is not something most employees would be used to, but these ‘reverse-CEO-shadowing’s’ are becoming quite common among IT companies throughout the country. Some of the companies to handle this are Jombay, Urban Ladder, Rivigo, Pharmeasy and Zerodha.
Mohit Gundecha, CEO of Jombay, started the initiative of ‘CEO On The Floor’ where he shadows consulting, engineering, operations and sales teams. Urban Ladder’s, co-founder Rajiv Srivatsa on the other hand, makes it a point to shadow delivery managers and service associates. This gives them a broader understanding of how things work on the ground and help them understand a situation better.
Other than understanding their points of view, leaders are now in the position to pass on their learning to their employees informally, over having to wait for it to come down the line of hierarchy.
