The results for the richest people in the country are in and the PayTM founder has been crowned the youngest billionaire in India. Going by the unchallenged word of Forbes, Vijay Shekhar Sharma, all of 39 years of age, is the youngest while Samprada Singh, the Chairman of pharmaceutical company Alkem Laboratories, is the oldest at the ripe old age of 92.
Initially ranking 1,394th on the list, Sharma’s luck seemed to turn around with the unforeseen event of the note ban in the country. Due to the sudden Government rule, PayTM saw a lot more users than ever before and clocked at 7 million transactions daily. Vijay Sharma owns 16% of PayTM which is now valued at USD 9.4 billion.
63 billionaires on the Forbes list are below the age of 40 and more than half the number are self-made entrepreneurs. Gathering their total wealth would amount to USD 265 billion.
