The well known messaging platform Whatsapp has made their way in the Indian payment market. It now seems that their entrance will cause some consolidate of the digital payment space in the coming years. Globaldata, a data and analytics firm released some statistics to back this up. They also believe that the other payment firms in the country are not profitable at the moment and would, therefore, have some objection to other players entering the market and competing on their turf.
E-payments in India are already seeing growth like never before since the Government decided to push for their bold move of demonetization in 2016. Consolidation seems very likely in the coming years with multiple bigger players making their way into the Indian market. They would then start looking for ways to increase their mark in India.
